  1. A connection between Raphael Holinshed's chronicles and Shakesperean Histories vs. Tragedies is that the guidelines of determining history vs. tragedy can be applied to Holinshed's chrnicles and Shakespeare's story's. Shakespeare based his story and many of the character traits of characters in Macbeth on Raphael Holinshed's historical story, yet Macbeth is considered a tragedy. This blog post says that characters in a tragedy are fictional and characters in a history are based on real characters. The story of Macbeth by Shakespeare can therefore also be considered a history because the characters are not completly fictional since they were based off Holinshed's historical characters.
